Episode Nine: Growing Strong

Meet the Kakapos,

Yuki: The dominant female

Tybalt: her Dominant male

Sunny: the sentry

caring Sunset

Missing Miracle and

The mean Terrors clan.

The next day the Kakapos are lined up in the morning light. They aren't doing the morning chores which is unusual, they seem to be more alert now. But it's more like they're waiting.

The meerkats must be waiting for Miracle to return, or hoping that she managed to find them during the night, but the dawn has revealed no sign of the missing girl. For the Kakapos it's a horrible loss, Miracle was a young mother and heroine, and she'll be greatly missed.

But Yuki knows that they can't brood forever, the Kalahari doesn't give second chances and when one life dies, another emerges and perhaps this will be true for them.

Leaving Miracle's mother Velvet to watch the pups, the rest of the Kakapos head out but they're more wary and alert today. There shouldn't be any problems now, the group's new burrow is deep in their land and not in easy reach, but you can never tell.

However, while the Kakapos are doing well so far, at their counterpart mob the Terrors things are very cheery. The Terrors are already out foraging and they have made a distrubing discovery. On a tree stump is a Tsunami scent marker, and in the distance Moonrise sees the owners digging around on her mobs' land.

But there's little that she can do. The Tsunamis outnumber her little group so a battle is to be avoided at all costs, already her forces have wounds still healing. In irritation Moonrise quickly leads her group away unnoticed.

With this sudden move by the Tsunami clan this may mean bad things in store for the Kakapos. Though the concerns of the Terrors isn't none of their concerns, It is when the fact that the Terrors are offly close to their border if the Tsunamis keep going then the Terrors might start trying to make a living on Kakapo soil.

The Terrors have settled at their new burrow but it's in the middle of a dry river bed. It's very exposed and may not be the best place for Moonrise to raise her litter of pups. But Moonrise knows of this situation and she must a way to make ends meet for her little band.

Desperate to be helpful, Cielo (Spanish for sky) decides to go see if there is any good, free land for the mob. It's a risky move but worth the struggle if Moonrise's pups are to live, the Terrors are very low at only eight meerkats.

When Cielo returns there is good knews, the female has found a piece of untouched land that the Tsunamis haven't used, they may of well forgotten it was their land. But with this chance Moonrise follows the young female and it isn't long before the Terrors have found a new land.

For the Kakapos things seem to be good for now. There is no signs of any other meerkats, and no sign of Miracle. The group seems to have taken her for dead but a few keep a eye out for her.

For Velvet things seem slow and empty. Velvet was the only surviving pup of her litter when Cassie from the Tsunamis had killed the other pups, but every once and a while she goes belowground and cuddles Yuki's pups.

The idea of lossing her only daughter to the claws of her big sister makes Velvet want revenge, revenge for the loss of the only thing in life that gave her so much meaning. But could fate be possibly giving her another chance?

While Velvet is tending the pups, a unexpected visitor has appeared at the burrow. The meerkat is Tiresias, a large six year old male from a unknown mob. He's quite a charmer with the ladies, with more expirience than Corbin at the art of roving.

Tiresias sits by the burrow entrance just waiting. From what he smells he knows a female is below ground and he's going to wait for her to notice. Velvet soon appears and immediately spots the intruder, she growls at him, but Tiresias only leans foreward and begins grooming her.

Velvet knows she shouldn't do this after last time, but she's desperate now after the possible lost of Miracle. And ignoring her head once more, she follows the strange male into the bushes.

The Kakapos may be in trouble. Their burrow has been discovered by Moonrise, a former Kakapo female that was permantly evicted by Sea Star, and now her army were storming the burrow.

They were being fought off by Miracle, Cavatica, Charlotte, Sunny, Corbin, and Sherman. They're trying to keep their ground but things are turning bad for them, unless the others appear then the six are in trouble.

They're tiring fast, but the one of Moonrise's followers barks out alarm and the fighting stops. The Kakapos are charging towards their burrow in a leaping war-dance and seeing that they're are now greatly outnumbered, Moonrise barks at her mob and the smaller group flees but not without Dominant pair Yuki and Tybalt attacking Moonrise and Helios first.

With the rebellious mob gone, the Kakapos now turn their attention to their burrow. It's a big mess. Blood is splattered on the ground, bits of fur, and Cavatica is bleeding from a wound on her tail and ear, Sunny is licking at his paw. Charlotte is cleaning a wound on her shoulder and Corbin and Sherman are cleaning their own wounds.

Yuki heads underground in fear for her pups while the others scent mark the burrow, she can smell the strong smell of Moonrise but to her relief her pups are safe if not frightened.

She cuddles them and feeds them before she returns aboveground. The group is gathered around the brave meerkats comforting them, but Velvet has noticed that one meerkat is missing. She stands on her hind legs looking around. Where's Miracle?

Some of the meerkats search around the burrow area for the missing heroine but she doesn't turn up. Realizing that her only daughter might be dead Velvet sits down and mourns for her little one.

Yuki is making some sharp decisions now. With the raid from Moonrise and the Terrors Mob they may of just lost a good babysitter, seeing how distressed her sister is is making Yuki furious of Moonrise.

Yuki goes belowground and comes up with her female pup, Tracker and Jade collect the other two and the group heads away from the ruined burrow and head off to find a newer burrow that will be safer.

At the Terrors' burrow. Moonrise is furious with the loss of such a good burrow, she isn't going nicely on her female followers and Helios is joining her with the same treatment to the males. Moonrise is also angered by how her brother, Sunny double-crossed her and fought for on the Kakapo side. But she isn't done yet and pregnant now with a next generation of fighters the Terrors may strike again soon...

The Kakapos have reached their new digs and begin working on the burrow, some anyway. The injured ones are allowed to rest and Velvet is to busy mourning to want to help.

Yuki stands on a tree stump staring at the horizion silently. Moonrise has been trouble even before Sea Star died, now the aggressive female needs to learn her lession and Yuki is vowing that she'll make sure that Moonrise pays for her deeds, dearly.

Episode Seven: Where's Miracle?

Meet the Kakapos,

Yuki: The new leader

Tybalt: Her loyal partner

Corbin: The old Casanova

Miracle: the young mother

Evil Queen Vitani, and

The Terrors Clan.

With all the trouble with their shifted order and the lossing of their leaders Sea Star and Piper, the Kakapos are finally settling down. Yuki is the undisputed queen now and now it seems that Tybalt is her King.

This morning Yuki had gaven birth to three pups two males and a single female. The babies will remain belowground for a while before they will join the adults, but somebody has to watch them, and those somebodies are brothers Corbin and Sherman.

Ever since losing his position Corbin has been a anti-social meerkat, he sits away from the group and doesn't take part with group activeties. Miracle decides to stay behind and keep a eye on the two former Tsunami boys, but Corbin only ignores the other two and settles down for a nap.

Sherman is curious by his big brother's behaviour but tries being a good sentry, but soon boredom takes over and he feels sleeply soon he curled up deep in the burrow for his own nap.

Miracle only snorts at the males imaturity. One of them might of been the father of her pups but they are lazy excuses for meerkats if they aren't bothering to help with babysitting.

But none of the trio, or even the rest of the Kakapos, know that a group of nine meerkats are charging into their land with two familiar faces at the lead. The group is being lead by a large female with many scars on her body and tail, the meerkat is now a enemy to the Kakapos and she has many bitter memories and revenge in her mind.

The babysitters are still unaware of the danger until Miracle notices two forms in the distance. She sits up watching closely it seems like it's only two, but then more start appearing until nine meerkats are lined up.

The meerkats duck and suddenly vanish from sight. Miracle becomes worried and cherps making Corbin wake up grumpily and Sherman poke his head out of the burrow. The three stare tensily into the bushes and then...out of the bushes charges the nine meerkats with a familiar face that only Corbin could know to well. Moonrise is back!

The meerkat on her left flank is Sunny but the male on her right is a unfamiliar scarred male. Miracle is horrified to see her aunt and uncle back and she and the two boys immediately head underground to move the pups.

The mob storms the entrance and Moonrise goes right down with her daughter Rosaline close behind. Her new lover Helios is scent marking around the burrow while the others dig the entrance or help scent mark. But Sunny stay to the sidelines watching the raid silently.

Sunny used to be the best sentry of the group, but now taking part in a raid against his own mob is hard for him. The others just ignore him as though he isn't there especially Helios.

Moonrise and Rosaline however, aren't interested in what the boys are doing. Their mission is as clear as water. Find a kill anyone that gets in their way. Deeper in the burrow babysitters Corbin, Miracle, and Sherman are heading deeper into the burrow with the pups.

But they can't run forever, somebody has to face the meerkats that are intruding in their family's burrow. Leaving the little girl pup for Corbin and Sherman to deal with Miracle turns and bravely goes to face her aunt and cousin.

It isn't long before Moonrise's face appears in the chamber finding her smaller niece standing defensively. Miracle growls a warning as Rosaline joins her mother, it shouldn't be a hard fight. Change that. Another of Moonrise's gang drops into the burrow and heads for the three.

The fight starts between Miracle, Rosaline, and Moonrise. It's two to one but Rosaline is only a teenager, but a fierce one at that. And soon Scarlet, a evicted female from a wild mob joins in the fight.

Miracle is being forced to give ground and she knows she might not be able to hold her own if there is isn't help.

Leaving Sherman to watch the pups, Corbin runs through the tunnals and gets into the rumble, evening out the odds slightly, but it might be a lost cause, Moonrise and Scarlet are fierce fighters and while they fight off the babysitters, Rosaline tries slipping past them.

A opening quickly appears and Rosaline slips past them heading into the burrow where Sherman is trying to calm the pups. Sherman is waiting for her sooner than expected and the two start fighting.

It seems like Helios wants in on the action for Scarlet is his littermate and he heads for the burrow entrance, but then Sunny attacks him and the two start fighting as well shocking the other meerkats.

But two large males also goes down belowground and suddenly a screech comes from the burrow. Moonrise, Scarlet, Drake, and Duncan appear from the burrow dragging a thrashing Miracle. This is a dire situation for she might be killed now.

But from the bushes comes Charolette and Cavattica, two sisters that we met in season one. Now both girls are adults now and they're ready to help their comrades. The burrow is thrown into chaos both above and belowground.

With all this fighting, could the Kakapos be facing a tragic end?
